Hi all. I can remember it was always cool to go to Truman plaza. You would hit the PX and the class VI. Then when they would have the Volksfest that was always a BIG party for days. All the rides and games it was like the old county fairs back home. I can specifically remember the ribs one year and how good they were. I have never had ribs like that since. And the beer tents with the GIANT liter mugs!! Oh man did we ever drink!! Long time ago..

Those were definitely some awesome times. It was in '86 that my buds and I were assigned to work the Volksfest in the offices that supported the operation.

It really was a UNIQUE experience to say the least, the food, the people, the beer, the whole thing.

I bought my first brand new car at the American car dealer at Truman Plaza. It was a 92' Cavaliar, only paid $7700. My friend went to Berlin last year and said that Truman is now completely gone, just an empty field.
